Sudan
The United States has called for more humanitarian aid to the Darfur region, Sudan.
Visiting Sudan to assess the security situation in the country, US diplomat Steven Koutsis called for more action in giving aid to the people of Golo in Darfur.
Golo is located in the mountainous region of Jebel Marra, west of Sudan.
With Sudanese authorities imposing several restrictions on the former rebel held town, humanitarian aid workers often experience difficulties accessing town.
The visit of the US diplomat comes as the United Nations seeks to reduce its peacekeeping force in the country and at a time when President Donald Trump
lifted the US trade embargo that has been in place for two decades over Sudan.
The US says an increased presence of UN and African peacekeeping forces in the area would boost aid delivery efforts.
After its lifting of sanctions, Washington is now demanding, among other things, the restoration of security in Darfur so as to help humanitarian aid delivery measures.
